Someone asked me recently, “What the heck do you eat?” in response to my description of the Dukan Diet. Oddly, I feel like there’s lots I can eat…. mostly meat…. and veggies, which I LOVE. But my favourite thing that I have found on this diet is my new favourite drink.
I went out and bought a Soda Stream because I love carbonated drinks but I don’t love all the sugar and chemicals that come with it. To be honest, I’m not as concerned with the chemicals as I am with the sugar and I had to find a way to get away from it to be able to do this diet.
The Soda Stream was my answer and so now what I do is make a tea concentrate out of some tea and add bubbly water and often a slice of lemon and off I go. I don’t even feel cheated!
One fancy sparkling beverage coming up!
- 6 teabags of a fruity tea, my tea of choice has been passion raspberry
- 2 cups of boiling water
Boil water and place the teabags in a jar, pour about 2 cups of hot water over the tea bags and let steep for longer than you would for normal tea. I’d say about 1/2 hour. Take the teabags out and reserve the concentrate. Now anytime you want a drink, you can use plain water or carbonated water like I do and add about 1/8 cup of the concentrate (more or less according to your taste). I then add a slice of lemon and a couple of cranberries.
Voila, fast, easy and convenient sparkling soft drink.
