It is hot hot hot out there again. I was riding my bicycle home from work, was dressed for the cool weather this morning and as the sun beat down on me all I could think about was getting a Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade, minus the sweetener. That’s my drink of choice on a day like today but unfortunately I wasn’t going to be cycling by a Starbucks and the car was going to be home late this evening. I suppose I coulda gone out of my way, and it would have been out of my way but I’ve long since been determined to replicate most of food/drink that I found I loved somewhere out there in restaurant land. Not always successfully but typically I come close enough so that I’m not held hostage by someone else’s kitchen.
So I came up with my own version… and I think it is better. I was going to use Starbucks’ Passion Tea but instead opted for a different brand and used Passion Raspberry, because I also love raspberries. Mix it together with some home made lemonade and voila! A fabulous drink to enjoy as I sit on the swing in my backyard after a hot bike ride.
Passion Fruit Raspberry Tea
- 2 Cups boiling water for the tea
- 6 tea bags
- Steep for 15 minutes
Lemonade
- Juice of 3 freshly squeezed lemons
- 6 Cups of Water
- ¼ Cup Sugar (more or less depending on taste)
Mix these two together and put store in refrigerator, serve over ice and perhaps a few random raspberries.
